Nov 27th :) Rithvik or Shriya!

This blogpost is dedicated to my wifey Radhi and our cutie pie Rithvik :). I am lucky to have a great wife :), together we have faced challenges and have made life-changing decisions! My special thanks to her :)

On Nov 27th 2010, the cute lil angel came into our family. I could not be with my wife during that time as I had stupid MS exams :( , but was in constant touch with her via phone. I had talked to her the previous day also. I dint expect that my baby will arrive 15 days early :)

My dad called me and said "Congratulations, you have become a dad now.........". I couldn't hold my tears of joy. It was such an awesome feeling. My dad said they would be taking the baby for bath and said he will call me back later.

But I forgot to ask whether it was a boy or girl :).

Few months ago :

I had been to one of the Chinese restaurant called "PF Chang" (2 -3 months back) with my friends, I was surprised to get a fortune cookie which just said "Daughter". I was like "How on earth will this fortune cookie know everything about me?".

I was pretty convinced that this is something, which I wouldn't believe in and had told my wife that since it says "daughter", I am 100% sure it would be baby boy.

Still, somewhere in my mind, this got registered. (Damn!! that cookie had controlled my thinking ability). Also, there is a popular gender theory : if it is 140+ beats per minute (BPM) , then that it will be a girl and under 140 BPM then it will be a boy. THIS IS NOT TRUE!

My son had 160+ BPM. :)

So these things somewhat made me think that it could be a girl. Anyway, I was waiting for my dad's call, I was angry that he had not yet told me complete information. My dad called me again and said that it was baby boy!!! he said "heLidhnallo munche call maaddhagle gandu magu antha......!!!" Ahhh, I had not heard the complete conversation bcoz of my excitement :).

If it was daughter, we would have named "Shriya Haritsa". Shriya means auspicious. :)

Rithvik means "chief of preist" / Acharya who performs Yagna to attain certain wishes in every Ritu( a season in Hindu calendar ).

So my message to the readers is "NEVER believe in fortune cookies and baseless theories". Also, try to avoid such things, it will definitely make you biased to the opinions you get from them.

Atlast a long weekend- niceone indeed !!

Its been an eon since I put a blog post. I was eagerly waiting for a long weekend. Thanks to "Vijayadashami".I have got much needed reprieve after long time.
I went to Mysore on Wednesday evening. Thursday was "Vijayadashami". I reached satellite bus stand by 4.30pm. There was an interminate queue of people to take tickets to Mysore.To my luck, when I thought of joining the queue, KSRTC people announced that special non-stop buses have been arranged and asked the people to get into to the bus and tickets would be issued on the way. I was lucky enough to get into one of the buses after much struggle:Being thin will help in such situations :).
As soon as we reached "Kengeri", there was road block,people had blocked the road.People were frustrated, as they had been waiting for hours to catch the Mysore bus at Kengeri. Even though it was a non-stop bus, driver and conductor were just mute spectators as people started boarding the bus.The bus was jam packed, people standing on every inch of the bus floor!!,my feet were spared!!!. Some of the people who could not board the bus started banging the bus from outside. Never, had i seen such a herd of people visiting Mysore!!! It looked like almost whole of Bangalore was migrating to Mysore,all because of Dasara!!!.

This weekend was an ideal one for me. I spent much of time eating(outside) and shopping for my marriage :). I have tried almost all kinds of victuals available in chat street. (behind Marimallapa's School, near our Jogi Mahesha's house).I would recommend the following:
1. Mallige Dose.
2. Shavige.
3. Masala Dosa.
4. Badam Milk with ice cream.

One more work i forgot to mention!!!.....
I have designed a prototype of my marriage invitation!!! :) soon all of you would be getting one over email, do comment on the design & the way of presentation, most importantly don't miss the wedding reception on 20Th December.

In the city of Demois - (people BP hushaaru!!!)

In the city of Iowa , there lived four unemployed friends. They were tired of searching for jobs. Finally one day they decided to do something innovative, they came up with an idea of directing a trepid horror film. They were ebullient hoping that their endeavor would be successful. They were in search of a horror story.
For the next one month, they learnt the art of directing a film in a local studio. They had hired few local artists for the movie. Now their next milestone was to search for an appropriate location to shoot their first tremulous shot. They took a taxi car and moved north, towards the city of Demois. On the way, the fuel got exhausted. The car could not move even a feet. They tried starting the car many times but all in vain. None of them were aware of the place, they were in . They try to make a call from their mobile, but there is no network.It was late evening, ten minutes past nine. The entire place looked deserted and desolated. All they could hear was silence!!!! .Everyone was afraid to wander in such a gloomy, crestfallen atmosphere,to enquire about the nearest bunk or a place where they could take refuge for that night !

All four got down and started walking in desultory way. There were no lights, in fact no street at all!! All they could see was mournful darkness with sound of howling wild dogs. All four were very upset and their minds were blank. Holding each others hands tightly, they moved a certain distance. As they moved, it started drizzling. They could feel the tiny droplets falling on them. One of them said, “ Alas !! our situation is become horrible”. The other said, “ No, we are all saved, look to your left”.

All the other three looked to their left with agog. All of them screamed "Hurray !!! cheers !!!". They could see a mansion that looked shabby and haunted with plants grown on the walls, in the light flashed by the frequent lightning in the sky!. Their muscles relaxed. They felt as if they had explored an oasis in a desert. As they moved closer to the mansion, they all started sweating!! They could hear preternatural sounds. The building did not seem like dwelling place of humans. All four started freezing out of fear,they had no other option, but to take shelter in that dungeon. They opened the gate of the mansion.It made a harsh creaking sound. They quivered through the path that paved the way to the main door of this formidable place. Adding to their nervousness, they find a latch that is broken and the door is half open. They slowly stepped inside, awaiting to see the owner of the house. There was just a candle glinting in the hall. In this light,what did they see ?????

Kung Fu - Panda - Review

Kung Fu Panda is the new animated movie which I saw last week. The protagonist is a portly Panda who had always dreamt of becoming a Kung Fu warrior.The Panda's father is a cook,proficient in preparing noodles with his secret ingredient.The Panda has a gamut of knowledge about Kung Fu but his physique is not favorable for him to practice Kung Fu.He pined to become a Fung Fu fighter. The story begins with Panda dreaming about he fighting with all the greatest of greats in Kung Fu and defeating them. Suddenly Panda is woken up by his father who asks him to serve noodles in his restaurant. Panda's father casually asks him about his dream. Panda fears to talk about the dream he had about Kung Fu. He realises that he would be an object of fun if he reveals about his dream: A corpulant panda as a Kung Fu fighter!!!.Panda says that he dreamt about preparing noodles. Panda's father is excited after listening about his dreams and realises that it is time to divulge the secret ingredient to his son, so that he would take over his restaurant.But in unexpected turn of events,Panda is anointed as the Kung Fu dragon warrior,he has to fight a powerful enemy who has escaped from the jail.Now it is the task of the Kung Fu master to make slacken Panda to fight against the enemy. It is a real comedy from here. It is a fun movie that manages to entertain all audiences.In the whole movie hardly there any scenes that make you feel bored, cherubic Panda keeps you entertaining pretty much whole way through the movie.

One more thing I forgot to add, What inspired me to watch this movie?

I saw a Panda's picture in one of my friends IM profile. It looked similar to his physiognomy.So I was very curious to watch a movie in which my friend's look-alike was starring!!!.

After watching this movie,I am very excited to share a few similarities between the Panda and my friend.

I may be undermining my friend's great big bouncing ball of fat and fuzz, but my friend's belly, more or less matches the size of Panda's belly.Apart from the physique, there are other similarities. Panda manages to do preternatural things and ultimately becomes a Kung Fu fighter. So is my friend. He is different, he manages some how to do things which are out of nature like gaining friendship with almost all of the gals he meets.

Coming to his cooking skills, he really cooks well. Now lets talk about his Kung Fu skills.., though he is no match to Jackie Chan,if Jackie Chan trys to maim him with relentless attack, using his Kung Fu, his aegis like belly would act as a bastion, Jackie Chan would ultimately collapse out of exhaustion.But when my friend attacks with his fusillade of PJ's, he can make Jackie Chan cry for his life . :)

It was a Friday!

The title of this post is a inspiration from the movie "Wednesday".

It was a calm day at the office.i was busy with my work.I don't remember the date but it was a Friday.I have a volatile memory when it comes to remembering dates, I had told my birthday as July 7Th to my fiance,actually it is on July8Th :).So you can probably guess the kind of memory i have when it comes to date.So friends please excuse me if i have forgot to wish you on your birthday :).Sorry for digressing from the topic.

As I said It was a Friday. I had planned to leave early to with my girl :) to my place ,Mysore !!!.
After having 3 rotis for lunch(phulka with a side dish containing beLuLLi , yuck!!!),i was feeling sleepy,It was about 2 15pm, I received a shocking news from one of my friends that there were serial bomb blasts in Bangalore,it woke me up from the slumber.

We were all shocked and it was like a bolt from the blue. We were of the opinion that Bangalore was quite safe compared to other metros. We were experiencing the terror strikes for the first time.

But in Ahmedabad & Delhi it has become a routine,people have got used to such terror strikes.

The movie "Wednesday" clearly shows the helplessness of the police to tackle tech savvy terrorists. It clearly demonstrates as to how terrorists execute their plan meticulously. I don't blame it on police nor on the general public. It is very difficult to stop a person who is bent to destroy people in the name of religion. It is next to impossible to stop such a person.

The only solution to such terror strikes is to take extra precaution.No matter what kind of laws you introduce POTA etc...,it will not help you in solving it.
I was happy that I reached safely to Mysore on that Friday.The annihilation caused by the bomb blasts were minimal, my friends call it a "pataki blasts" :), but still there is danger lurking in the streets of Bangalore. So my message to Bangloreans is "Be Safe, Act brave".

Our smattering knowledge - about animals

Through my very first blog post,I would like to draw your attention towards the psychology of animals. The cognizance of nature of animals is like a labyrinth.The ken of knowledge we have about animals have made us think that we are at the finish but I still feel that humans have not yet been able to fathom the intricate details about their behaviours and we are still at the beginning and just as far from that which we were seeking at start of the maze.

I would like to ask you a simple question: Tell me what comes to your mind when you hear the word "buffalo"? I bet your cerebration's about buffalo would be like sloth, dumb,emotionless,rough animal.Though many of us agree that animals also have the same kind of emotions that humans have, we still fail to come to terms with it. We have some preconceived ideas about the animals. Think of a lion- It is courage. Think of buffalo- It is stupid or dumb.
